An update on COVID-19 from our office
To our valued patients,
This letter should come as no surprise but we have chosen to close our office to all elective dental procedures. This was a difficult, yet easy decision, and we know it is the correct thing to do for our patients, our staff and the public. With that said, we will continue to be available for all urgent and emergency dental matters at our office so please do not hesitate to call the office if you are in pain or discomfort. We have planned for a minimum 2 week shutdown and an evaluation to resume work will be done by the Manitoba Dental Association at the beginning of April.
The recent spread of the Coronavirus is a serious matter and to date, the only effective measure in controlling the virus is to simply distance ourselves from each other to prevent its spread. This only works if we get full commitment from all levels of our community and the sooner we are all on board, the shorter this pandemic will be. This policy has already been enforced upon dental practices in Ontario, British Columbia and numerous states in the US.
We have screened all patients with a series of questions pertaining to their health and recent travel which has been recommended by the Manitoba Dental Association. The dental profession is at high risk for transmission of this disease given the environment we work in. We have begun taking extra precautions to prevent any possible transmission and have gone above what is required for disinfection of our operatories and facility.
You may have also heard about the recent dental conference where an individual is believed to have spread it to other attendees. We would also like to use this letter to state nobody from our dental office attended, or has been in contact with an attendee, of the recent Pacific Dental Conference. All 15,000 attendees were asked to self-quarantine but I assure you we have no direct or indirect contact with this event at our office.
I would lastly on a personal note like to thank everyone for their cooperation at this time. This has been an unexpected event at a time where we are very excited to tell everyone we have recently purchased a new building for our office. We aren’t moving far and you will receive details in the coming weeks, but we are very excited to provide a great new clinic for you and your families. This is a large investment and want to ask for your support once we can get back to life as we know it.
For now, be safe and stay home.
